Switchable Reagent Ions with New IONICON PTR+SRI-MS Technology
Enter the new dimension of online mass spectrometry with IONICON PTR+SRI-MS featuring H3O+, NO+ and O2+ as precursor ions and quantify more volatile compounds than ever in real-time with PTR+SRI-MS.
Innsbruck, Austria, May 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- IONICON, the worlds’ leading PTR-MS company, is entering a new dimension in on-line mass spectrometry launching its new PTR+SRI-MS technology.
SRI stands for Switchable Reagent Ions and describes a new feature where instead of the single precursor ion (H3O+) used so far in PTR-MS systems also NO+ and O2+ can be used to chemically ionize trace constituents in gas samples.
The benefits are extraordinary as not only isomeric VOC compounds can be separated and instantaneously quantified (the separation of isobaric compounds is already possible by using the IONICON HRS PTR-TOF-MS) but also substances with a smaller proton affinity (PA) than the PA of H2O can now be detected with help of SRI techniques.
Unlike many other technologies IONICON PTR+SRI-MS instruments provide ultra-low detection limits in the single-digit pptv-range (reaching now even the ppqv detection regime) and very high sensitivity.
PTR+SRI-MS technology is now available with most IONICON products as an option or as upgrade for your existing PTR-MS instrument.
IONICON is the world’s leading producer of on-line VOC detectors with market-leading, on-line and real-time, single-digit, pptv-level sensitivities using the unique proton transfer reaction – mass spectrometry technology. For more than a decade, IONICON is serving leading scientists in universities and multinational companies with VOC detection and quantification instruments in many different areas including environmental research, pollution monitoring, atmospheric chemistry, food & flavour science, illicit substances detection and has sold more than 150 systems in its first 10 years of existence.
The IONICON product range comprises the IONICON High-Sensitivity PTR-MS with its market-leading detection limit of < 5 pptv; the IONICON Compact PTR-MS, a very robust and small VOC monitoring system with a very advantageous price and the IONICON HRS PTR-TOF-MS providing a mass resolution of up to 7000 m/∆m and high time resolution.
