Quadrant HealthCom Inc. and the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine Announce Launch of New Journal
Orlando, FL, August 05, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Quadrant HealthCom Inc. announces the launch of Urgent Care, a multi-disciplinary journal reaching an exciting new market. Urgent Care is the official journal of the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine (AAUCM) and is the first journal devoted to this dynamic, rapidly growing marketplace. Urgent care physicians provide quality health care for patients of any age or gender who need and want immediate medical attention for non-emergency conditions. This unique point-of-care setting offers patients an alternative to emergency departments and office visits for fast access to care, extended hours, short wait time, and unscheduled visits.
Dr. Franz Ritucci, Jr. will be the Editor-in-Chief of URGENT CARE. He is the Director of the AAUCM and President of the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine. “We are excited that Quadrant HealthCom is joining the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine in our mission to provide relevant, front-line medical education to this ever-growing segment of medicine,” said Dr. Ritucci. “After much research, we found Quadrant HealthCom to be the perfect partner to reach our physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.” Dr. Ritucci will bring thought leaders from key market sectors, including clinical and practice management, to join him on the URGENT CARE board.
“The AAUCM anticipates that the urgent care market will double by 2008,” said Stephen Stoneburn, President and CEO of QHI. “We are very excited to be leading the market.”
The journal will publish a premiere issue in October 2006, and another issue in December 2006 with frequency increasing in 2007. URGENT CARE will feature high-quality, peer-reviewed clinical content and practice management advice.

About the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine
The American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine (AAUCM) is comprised of a collective group of physicians actively engaged in the field of urgent care medicine. With thousands of members, the Academy is becoming one of the most important medical associations in the United States. As a member of the AAUCM you will demonstrate a shared commitment to the highest degree of professionalism. The purpose of the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine is to contribute to the field of urgent care medicine in the areas of professional growth, scientific and medical research, elevate the standards of medical care through education, basic and advance training and board certification.
The AAUCM is the only urgent care organization that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACGME), the only urgent care medicine organization represented in the Specialty and Service Society of the American Medical Association. Also, the AAUCM, in cooperation with the AMA, was successful in having urgent care medicine (UCM), established as a self-designated practice specialty code by the AMA.
In addition, the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, the certifying body of the AAUCM, is the only organization in the U.S. functioning to certify properly qualified candidates in the specialty of urgent care medicine.
