Robot/SAVE 11.0 Encrypts Critical System i Data for More Secure Backup and Recovery

Robot/SAVE 11 now allows users to encrypt data as it is saved to tape, making it unreadable if the tape is lost or stolen.
“Robot/SAVE 11.0 offers many more advantages than other data recovery software, including data encryption,” said Tom Huntington, VP of Technical Services of Help/Systems. “This alleviates the concern of liability or damages incurred should backup tapes be lost or stolen.”

Data encryption prevents unauthorized access to critical personal, financial, and confidential data that’s stored on tape. Robot/SAVE provides four encryption levels:
· Low encryption (uses an internally-defined algorithm)
· Medium encryption (uses the Data Encryption Standard)

· High256 encryption (uses the Advanced Encryption Standard, with a 256-bit key)
Robot/SAVE backup and tape management software also maintains a secure cross-reference file of the encryption keys used to encrypt data.
