Tango Nuevo Cabaret Announces Its U.S. Debut at UCLA's Royce Hall, June 4, 2009

Los Angeles, CA, May 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The New Production Showcases the Avant-Garde Tango Music of Legendary Argentine Composer Astor Piazzolla.
World-renowned tango dancer/choreographer Sergei Tumas today announced the U.S. debut of Tango Nuevo Cabaret, an elegant celebration of the avant-garde tango music of legendary Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. Produced and choreographed by Maestro Tumas, the show features exciting French-style cabaret dancers and world-renowned Argentine tango dancers performing to a modern symphony orchestra directed by Argentine composer/arranger and bandoñeonist Walter Rios leading his Buenos Aires Octet. Joining Maestro Rios for the first time is the classically based tango group the Cadence Ensemble led by Armen Babakanian. Tickets for both shows are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and at the Royce Hall Box Office.
During the summer of 2008 Maestro Tumas performed along with his tango company to the music of Astor Piazzolla in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and pop star, Chris Isaak, for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl. In August, 2008 Tumas performed in the nationally televised Fiesta Argentina 2008 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles to a sold out audience. In 2006 Maestro Tumas toured as part of the soloist tango couple for Julio Iglesias’ world tour. In addition to his stage work, he has choreographed numerous commercials, Hollywood films and TV dance shows including Dancing with the Stars.
In the spirit of community and citizenship, a portion of the proceeds from the Tango Nuevo Cabaret shows will be donated to Gary’s Place for Kids, a non-profit community organization that provides ongoing grief support for children and their families who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
