Miami, FL, May 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- “Going Green,” is more than a buzz word for RE/MAX Advance Realty’s Toni Keel; it’s a way of life. Toni is only the second Realtor in Miami-Dade County to receive the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Green Designation. Along with Toni, Broker Brenda Bly earned the designation making RE/MAX Advance Realty the first brokerage to be certified. Having successfully completed a unique curriculum filled with the most current issues and innovative research in green real estate, Toni and RE/MAX Advance Realty are forging this market, creating green awareness in real estate.

The direct impact of the Green Movement is extremely apparent in Real Estate. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, 70% of home buyers are more or much more inclined to buy a green home over a conventional home in a down market. With this many consumers considering themselves “green minded,” real estate professionals with the NAR Green Designation give their clients a distinct advantage. A NAR Green Designee educates consumers about green building practices, green ratings, energy efficiency technology, green incentives and discerns facts from fiction about green living.

“Green living is not a trend, it is a necessity for the health a well being of not only ourselves, but of the planet,” explains Toni. “As a Realtor, my job is to inform the client and the NAR Green Designation gives me the tools to help my clients make educated decisions about buying and selling green real estate.”

NAR Green Designees not only are versed on green real estate, but they learn how green living can lighten the load on their clients’ wallet too.

“What is wonderful about the green movement is simple green practices can save people money over time. Few people think about turning off their computers or DVD players during the day; but doing so can save on average $100 per year in electricity,” said Toni. “Every advantage I can give my clients gives me that much more of a competitive edge. Some people go green for conservation reason, while others want to save money. Either way, it’s a step in the right direction.”

Toni, who practices green living herself, became the official Realtor of 305green.com, a Miami-based company who lists green business in the Miami-Dade County area.

“Living green is more than buying an energy efficient light bulb; it’s also about supporting other green businesses. 305green.com allows consumers to find a wide range of green friendly businesses and products in their neighborhood,” Toni said.

Toni, who is also a member of the Florida Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, works out of the South Miami branch of RE/MAX Advance Realty. For more information about green real estate or to contact Toni call 305-444-7111.
