The new generations of Africans in the U.S. have spent their formative years in this country, attending institutions of higher learning and in often cases having successful careers afterward in various industries. Africans abroad know of the daily struggles that face their families and communities back home. In response, there is a growing effort by Africans in the Diaspora to address vital issues. However, these projects often lack key funds and exposure.

The Black Star Collective (BSC) Foundation believes that in the 21st century the future of Africa's progress heavily rests on the level of involvement of which Africans living abroad play an integral role in aid efforts to Africa. In light of this, the foundation intends to assist African social entrepreneurs by raising awareness of their projects and by providing a monetary grant.
The 2009 F.E.B.N. Fund Fellow will be chosen by the public via an online contest and will be award at the foundation’s annual benefit gala in October 2009. The winner will possess the unique combination of dedication to social change and the excellent management skills.
The BSC Foundation is a non-profit organization in the state of New York. First created in September 2007, the BSC Foundation has a committed interest in promoting economic stability, sustainable development and healthy lifestyles in Africa.
