Flash Networks and Cisco Provide Carriers with Intelligent Traffic Management to Maximize Data Revenues, Network Utilization, and Subscriber Satisfaction
Flash Networks and Cisco have partnered to provide fair usage and differentiated data plans to maximize both revenues and subscriber satisfaction. The solution has already been successfully deployed with Russia's CDMA operator Skylink.
Herzlia, Israel, May 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Flash Networks, a global provider of intelligent mobile Internet solutions, announced today that it has partnered with Cisco to provide fair usage and differentiated data plans to maximize both revenues and subscriber satisfaction. The joint solution strengthens the operators’ ability to meet the needs of both bandwidth-hungry and budget-conscious subscribers while efficiently managing network capacity.
The Intelligent Traffic Management solution incorporates Flash Networks’ 3GPP-compliant Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and Cisco’s Mobile Service Exchange Framework (Cisco SEF). Successfully deployed at Russia's CDMA operator, Skylink, for traffic management and differentiated charging, this solution is part of Flash Networks’ mobile Internet services gateway, enabling mobile and converged operators to orchestrate services, improve quality of experience, reduce operating expenses, and monetize the open Internet.
With Cisco SEF, Cisco helps operators gain greater visibility and control, improve network performance, save costly OPEX and CAPEX, create new tiers of service, and implement new billing plans.
“With the advent of smartphones and laptops with 3G/WIMAX aircards, an explosion of mobile data traffic is expected over the next five years. Our successful partnership with Flash Networks enables operators to meet the challenge of maximizing revenues while protecting network assets by providing tiered services that ensure fair bandwidth usage and protect the network from traffic congestion,” said Sergey Belonozhko, Area Sales Manager for SP at Cisco. “By leveraging existing infrastructures, mobile operators can incrementally secure a larger share of the market. With SEF, Cisco can help operators create a more intelligent network which is able to dynamically control, authorize, and bill different customer types according to their needs. Cisco, together with Flash Networks, provides one of the best solutions on the market for SEF.”
The Intelligent Traffic Management solution supports personalized data plans where service providers can notify subscribers when they are near usage quotas, provide a temporary bandwidth boost, offer data plan extension to support additional IP services, or enable subscribers to set personalized usage caps that can be updated in real-time based on personal financial limits. This same solution is used to both insert targeted advertising based on subscriber browsing patterns, and to block inappropriate content for safe browsing.
"The industry is seeing a change in behavior; both businesses and consumers are demanding mobile access for bandwidth-intensive applications and services," said Merav Bahat, Vice President of Marketing at Flash Networks. "Our partnership with Cisco gives service providers better insight into customer activity and lets operators deliver a unique offering for market differentiation."
Flash Networks' Intelligent Traffic Management will be demonstrated at Sviaz-ExpoComm Moscow 2009, May12 – May 15, in the Cisco booth, Pavilion 1.
