nuResume Announces Winners of Star Student Contests in Marketing and Technology

Judges from Sun Microsystems, KLA-Tencor, Classmates, San Jose Sharks, GradeGuru and Waggener Edstrom offer great prizes including internship interviews and more.

Pleasanton, CA, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- nuResume (http://www.nuresume.com), the first free career network for students to market themselves online and network with employers, announced today the winners of its two Star Student Contests. Students from Stanford University, Stony Brook University, Santa Clara University, University of the Pacific, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Coastal Carolina University were selected as winners in this highly competitive online contest.

"I found the quality of the students to be outstanding. This is a great way for us to reach students across the US and connect with students at universities we don't typically recruit from," said marketing judge Heather Flynn, a staffing manager at Waggener Edstrom.

What is the Star Student Contest? Think American Idol but for college students competing to win guaranteed internship interviews, a digital camera or Flip Video, and recognition. Judges from leading companies such as Sun Microsystems, KLA-Tencor, and the San Jose Sharks judged the Technology and Marketing contests. Contestants were limited to students on the Dean's list, in an Honor society, or nominated by faculty, and were evaluated on academic excellence, work experience, community service, and presentation skills. Each contest was limited to 25 contestants.

"nuResume is a great resource for employers to find quality applicants in one location. The Star Student contest enabled us to view students' profiles and find different candidates than might normally visit our job board," reported marketing judge Hilary Lansdon of the San Jose Sharks.

"nuResume is specifically catered for students trying to find internships and jobs," said Christopher Ayala, selected by Sun Microsystems as technology contest winner. "Other networking sites are crowded with experienced professionals and it's more difficult to stand out as a student. With nuResume, I maximize the chance of getting my profile seen by recruiters who are specifically looking for student interns or prospective graduates."
