EarthSync Announces EarthSync Festival 2009
EarthSync, a Chennai based world music record label, will be hosting the third edition of the EarthSync Festival on Saturday, May 30, 2009.
Chennai, India, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The festival will be held at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Lady Andal School, starting 6.30pm, and will boast a tremendous line-up: to kick off the night an exclusive outdoor performance of Kartick & Gotam, an electro-folk collaboration of musicians from India and Israel, followed by the main event Shoshan, the acclaimed Israeli composer Shye Ben-Tzur with qawwali and folk musicians from Rajasthan.
Speaking about the Festival, Sonya Mazumdar, CEO & Director, EarthSync, said, “It is a pleasure to announce the third annual EarthSync Festival. EarthSync has come a long way over the past few years, largely due to the incredible support that we have received from our audiences, be it in India or abroad. This has given us the impetus to bring into India some eclectic performances and albums, be it Laya Project and Laya Project Live!, the Ojos de Brujo albums, Nagore Sessions or our latest offering Voice Over The Bridge. The performances at this year’s festival, Shoshan and Kartick & Gotam, once again reinstate our commitment to nurturing world music and we’re sure that the festival will be extremely well-received by our audiences here.”
The festival will showcase the collaboration between a music producer, Patrick Sebag and a sound designer Yotam Agam (Kartick & Gotam), who have remixed EarthSync’s folk productions and musicians to create an alternative, electronic album and special live show. This show will integrate dance and music artists from around Asia and the Middle East with contemporary electronic sound.
The musical highlight of the evening will be Shoshan, the performance by Shye Ben-Tzur, an acclaimed Israeli composer, producer and performer based in North India since over a decade, along with his amazing group of Rajasthani vocalists and percussionists. The show will also feature a spellbinding flamenco and oriental guitarist from Spain.
Tickets for the EarthSync Festival are priced at Rs. 400/- and will be available at Landmark, Odyssey, Anokhi and EarthSync office. For more details, please call 044 4205 2532 or send a mail to earth@earthsync.com
