World Fair Trade Day Inspires Shirtworks to Offer Fairtrade Garments for Promotional Clothing Printing at Cost Price
Shirtworks, a leading promotional clothing company, has offered ethically produced garments at cost-price to UK charities for some time, however the company has decided to extend this to all promotional clothing customers.
Oxford, United Kingdom, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Shirtworks has announced that all ethically produced garments, including those obtained via Fairtrade used for promotional clothing production will be supplied at cost price, with the customer only paying for the cost of printing, embroidery and delivery on top of the cost price of the garment. Shirtworks has recently enjoyed huge success with this offer being provided for UK charities, but has decided to roll this out to all customers flowing the inspirational World Fair Trade Day held on May 9th. "The charity offer has been a huge success," commented Arron Harnden, MD of Shirtworks. "And it feels really good for us too as ethical trade is such an important issue to us. Many of our customers have been so enthusiastic about our principles, and with all of the excitement surrounding the World Fair trade Day, we made the decision to extend the offer to all promotional clothing production. We're hoping that if we offer the Fairtrade and other ethically produced garments to customers at cost price when they order their promotional clothing, it will encourage them to choose Fairtrade above conventionally produced garments. We don't make a profit on the garments themselves as a result," Arron added. "But as we believe in the Fairtrade movement, we are happy with that sacrifice as a business."
Due to the popularity of their ethical clothing offering, Shirtworks is planning to extend the range of ethical clothing styles available that have been obtained via Fairtrade. "We also offer garments that are made from organic cotton and have been made using environmentally friendly production methods," Arron commented. "All of these are included in the offer. We currently stock T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, but the range of styles will be extended soon, considering how popular they are. Ultimately, it's all about choice," Arron concluded. "We just want to help people make a choice that is fairer to other countries and the environment."
