Sky Blues and Advent Communications do the Double
Coventry, United Kingdom, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Coventry City and Advent Communications are toasting a successful first season together – after the club’s match-day programme received a second award.
The Football Trader Magazine announced that ‘Skyblues’ was their choice for Championship Programme of the Year.
The award follows March’s honour from Programme Monthly, which also named the 84-publication as the best in the Championship.
Advent’s team of writers worked with Coventry City’s in-house programme editor, Carl Newell, to produce various features in the club’s 125th anniversary year.
The team’s work included exclusive interviews with current and former players, including Stuart Pearce, Terry Butcher and John Sillett, along with rock band The Enemy.
The writers – in conjunction with a number of contributors – also completed a comprehensive look back at the club’s history, profiled visiting teams and sub-edited all submissions.
Programme editor Newell said: “We have received these awards from the two expert publications in the industry, so it’s a huge honour for the club and the programme team.
“The whole team works incredibly hard to maintain the highest standard – we strived to be the best, because our fans deserve nothing less than that.”
Advent, which has PR clients across the region – including the Ricoh Arena, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, the Deeley Group and Yorkshire Bank, began work on the programme in October.
Lee Corden, who leads Advent’s programme team, said: “We’ve worked extremely well with the football club’s in-house team and that has been the key into making the programme a success.
“We knew because it was the club’s 125th anniversary that this was a particularly special season to work on the programme and, while it’s been hard work, it’s been satisfying too.
“The awards are a fantastic seal of approval for our work but, more importantly, we’ve had great feedback from supporters as well as the players and staff at the club.”
