Colliers International Appointed to Sydney’s Trendiest Property

8 Hill Street is the latest addition to the design precinct of Sydney, Australia.

Sydney, Australia, May 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Surry Hills is transforming into Sydney’s design Mecca following the recent completion of a trendy new addition to the suburb – 8 Hill Street.

The seven-storey building, owned and developed by Rommark Corp, has been specifically designed to house creative businesses with its flexible configuration and office/showroom floors.

Matthew Meynell, Manager of City Fringe, and Joshua Watts, Associate Director of City fringe at Colliers International, are marketing the property with Metro Commercial. Mr Meynell said design houses and other creative industries were once dispersed over the Sydney CBD fringe and are now congregating in Surry Hills.

A newcomer to the suburb is the prestigious EsMod French Fashion College (established in 1856), located at 2 Short Street, neighbouring cultural icons including The Object Gallery and the Beresford Hotel.

“Back in the early 19th Century, Surry Hills was covered in mansions but it later became an overcrowded slum filled with brothels and notorious gangs,” said Mr Meynell.

“Today, Surry Hills is a very difference place, well known for its art galleries, antique dealers, cafes, restaurants and pubs, fashion and rag trade outlets.”

8 Hill Street comprises 2700 sqm of net lettable area with cafes and retail space on the ground floor. Located within a short walk to Taylors Square and Oxford Street, the property neighbours the brand new St Margaret’s urban village.

Mr Meynell said the building is for sale in one line or separately by floors or suites with sizes from 100-600 sqm, as well as leasing opportunities available.

“As the most active buyers of commercial property are currently private investors and owner-occupiers, we expect this property to be snapped up very quickly,” he said.
