Balfour Beatty Construction Receives 2009 Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award
Dallas, TX, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction announced today their selection as a winner of the 2009 Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award. The award, presented at a business luncheon gathering on May 13, recognizes Balfour Beatty as a significant leader in the local Dallas community for their commitment to ethical business practices and peer-to peer interactions.
The Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award honors corporations that have committed to and demonstrate ethical business practices in their everyday operations, management philosophies, and responses to crises or challenges. The award is presented by the Dallas Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the Financial Planning Association of Dallas/Fort Worth, Edwin L. Cox School of Business and Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics and Public Responsibility of Southern Methodist University, and the North Texas Ethics and Character Association.
Of the 24 companies nominated for this year’s award, nine finalists were honored, and two were named winners—Balfour Beatty Construction, in the mid-sized company category, and Sleep Experts, in the small company category.
“These two companies are terrific examples of businesses operating under ethical principles and doing the right thing for their company and the clients they serve, which is particularly rewarding to see during this trying economic climate. Their work reinforces the positive, ethical values of our local business community and beyond,” said Gary Morris, founder and chair of the awards committee.
When presenting the award, Morris highlighted Balfour Beatty’s leadership role as one of the founding members of the Construction Industry Ethics and Compliance Initiative (CIECI) and noted that the company had successfully found a way to embed ethics into its everyday practices.
Accepting the award, Robert Van Cleave, Chairman and CEO of Balfour Beatty Construction, said, “It is an honor to be recognized with this award. Our company has made a real point of differentiating ourselves through the very high standards we place on integrity, ethics, and service. To be recognized with the Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award is indeed an affirmation that we’re on the right track.”
