Brand New Facility for Ulster Farm to Cater for Increasing Demand
Moira, United Kingdom, May 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rt. Hon Peter Robinson, leader and first minister of the Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland, along with Arlene Foster, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, officially opened a new factory at Serious PR's client, Willowbrook's Farm in Newtownards, Northern Ireland.
DUP Leader and First Minister, Rt. Hon Peter Robinson MP MLA, along with Arlene Foster MLA, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment, officially opened a new factory at Willowbrook Farm, Newtownards on 12th May 2009.
The expansion marks an important step in the development of the company, providing extra processing facilities to meet ever growing demand. Estimated to be worth nearly £1.5 million, the investment is forecast to create up to 30 jobs in the local area.
Willowbrook Farm was established in 1968 on land farmed by the McCann family for over 200 years and the company is now run by John McCann, Managing Director. The company’s total commitment to quality and innovation has seen it grow into a dynamic success story in the Northern Ireland agribusiness sector, with a turnover of £15 million, and 150 staff on its payroll.
This year’s acquisition of the second processing facility on the Jubilee Road in Newtownards, coupled with the company’s significant investment in its existing facilities in Killinchy, mark important milestones in the development of Willowbrook, which produces a range of speciality items including salad bags, stir-frys, soup mixes and potato products.
John McCann said that the development would create jobs, bring prosperity to the area, and potentially generate more business for Willowbrook’s local suppliers:
“Our vision is to be the best we can be, and then aim to get even better; to be recognised as the best producer and supplier of freshly prepared, good quality, innovative food products in the market. It is hugely encouraging for us to see so many local representatives along here today to confirm Willowbrook Farm’s commitment to the economy of this area.”
Willowbrook’s latest product offering, a mash potato mixed with an assortment of vegetables called Mighty Mash is a ready-made, hassle-free way to contribute to a child’s five-a-day recommended portion of veg and fruit, providing up to two portions in one go and appealing to parents who find it difficult to persuade children to eat their greens.
