San Francisco Elks Lodge Brings America’s Pastime to 100 Bay Area Children
Oakland A’s game is first annual baseball outing for new charitable elks program
San Francisco, CA, August 08, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The San Francisco Chapter, Lodge # 3, of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks today announced that it has instituted a new charitable program to bring baseball to Bay Area children. The first annual baseball outing will be held at the Oakland A’s game on Wednesday, August 9th, 2006 and will host children from the Girl Scouts of the San Francisco Bay Area, The Tenderloin Children's Playground and Recreation Center and Mercy Housing. 10 Elks and volunteers from the participating organizations will chaperone the event which will feature the full “Boys of Summer” experience, including beloved stadium hot dogs.
“Baseball is a great outlet for children,” said Josh Hachadourian who holds the office of “Tiler” for the San Francisco Lodge No. 3. “As Elks, we’re dedicated to charitable endeavors that assist a range of Americans from veterans to children. We feel that this type of outing is a great way for us to reach out to local youth and provide them access to a game many of us love. It offers them a chance to get involved with an American pastime that’s constructive entertainment and, who knows, even possibly a career.”
125 A’s baseball tickets were donated to the San Francisco Elks lodge to create an event that offered local youths a chance to enjoy a game. This is the first event in the new program, which is planned as an annual outing.
“Many children do not get the opportunity to attend a live baseball game,” continued Hachadourian. “We wanted to make sure they got the full experience, including the hot dog. A ball park frank is a key part of the pastime.”
