2009 Lou Groza Charity Golf Event - Golf with Cleveland Browns Alumni Players

Berea, OH, May 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Berea Rotary Club will host the 2009 Lou Groza Charity Golf Event on Thursday, September 10, 2009. This year’s venue has changed and the outing will take place at Coppertop at Cherokee Hills, a premier golf club in Valley City, Ohio.

This gala event is open to the public with food, drink and on-course games/prizes included. Shotgun start begins at 9:00 am and breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the pre-pay admission fee of $95.00.

The Lou Groza Charity Golf Event benefits youth sports, scholarships, mentoring programs and civil improvements as well as regional & international Rotary charity causes in the Northeast Ohio area.

Lou “the Toe” Groza was an infamous Cleveland Browns kicking specialist from 1961-67. He was an All-NFL tackle six times and NFL Player of the Year in 1954. In 2008 and 2007, Cleveland Browns alumni players such as Don Cockroft, Webster Slaughter, Felix Wright Joe “Turkey” Jones, and Jim Houston golfed in this event in order to support the Berea Rotary’s charity causes.

Lou Groza was a past member of the Berea Rotary Club and his generosity in the community prompted the Berea Rotary to hold this event annually in order to honor his great name, and to support the causes which he held most dear to his heart, youth sports and Rotary charitable causes.
