Ono Optical Brings Sight Back to 200 Visually Impaired People in Ghana

China-based Ono Optical online store has donated 200 pairs of high-quality prescription glasses to people in Ghana suffering from sight problems. This is part of their many community projects and in collaboration with Unite For Sight.

Shanghai, China, May 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Ono Optical, China’s leading online eyewear company donates 200 pairs of prescription glasses to people in Ghana needing optical correction.

Eye disease is a major concern for the people of Ghana. It is estimated that over 200,000 people suffer from blindness and over 600,000 are visually impaired. The most common causes of blindness include glaucoma, trachoma, childhood blindness, refractive errors and low vision. In developing countries like Ghana, blindness can eventually lead to death, and the mortality rate caused by blindness is four times higher compared with developed countries.

To help Ghana’s struggling community, Ono Optical has collaborated with Unite For Sight, an American non-profit organization to deliver 200 prescription glasses to Ghanaian adults and children needing optical correction. At present, there are thousands of people in Ghana living in poverty who need glasses, but cannot afford them. The price of glasses can easily exceed the average person’s three months salary. With the help of Ono Optical, a portion of Ghana’s community can now have clearer vision.

Ono Optical is proud to provide help to the less fortunate in Ghana by delivering high-quality and fashionable eyewear. The eyeglasses donated by Ono Optical are made from stainless steel, memory alloys and titanium. This donation is a recent addition to Ono Optical’s commitment to assisting communities locally and worldwide.
