Baxa Corporation Selected as Second-Place Winner for Best Company to Work For in Colorado
In a ceremony held today in Westminster, Colorado – Englewood-based Baxa Corporation was selected in second place for best large company to work for in Colorado. Candidate choice followed finalist selection based on employee surveys by the Society for Human Resource Management.
Denver, CO, August 03, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Baxa Corporation has been chosen for second place as a top large company to work for in Colorado. For the first time, ColoradoBiz magazine, the Colorado State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and online employment service, JOBing.com teamed up to product a list of the best companies to work for in the state. Twenty-five nominated firms in two categories – large and small/medium – made the list of finalists announced in June. Final rankings were provided by Best Companies Group Inc., a spinoff of The Great Places to Work Institute that created the well-known Fortune magazine best companies list. Winners were announced in a held today at the Westminster Hilton.
The Best Companies initiative honors Colorado companies that support employee growth and quality of life. Each of the finalists promoted best practice in employment, retention and benefit opportunities for their respective staff. This balance between work and fun was exemplified in the slides shown during yesterday’s ceremony chaired by Gregg Moss of Channel 9News.
Baxa Corporation CEO Greg Baldwin noted that he wants his employees to have passion for the company and its customers. Equating performance metrics to the statistics from fantasy sports leagues he notes, “It’s important to keep score. Without all of the statistics, the sports would be boring. Likewise, making metrics visible keeps our associates engaged in the business.” Baxa supports a variety of specialty employee benefits, including a monthly profit-sharing plan. Baldwin admits that this not only makes the metrics more meaningful to the associates, but it makes them big fans of the company.
More than 500 participants attended the SHRM Colorado State Council event, cheering on their peers as each company was announced. Award winners and finalists for the Best Companies designation are profiled in the current issue of ColoradoBiz magazine. To read the full article, go to http://www.cobizmag.com/articles.asp?id=1175.
