KOCE-TV Adds Orange County Leaders to Its Governing Board
Robert Magnuson, S. Paul Musco, and Glenn Stearns bring individual expertise to The KOCE-TV Foundation Board of Directors.
Huntington Beach, CA, May 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- KOCE-TV is proud to announce the addition of three Orange County leaders to the KOCE-TV Foundation Board of Directors. Robert Magnuson, S. Paul Musco, and Glenn Stearns will join current board members in sustaining and governing the KOCE-TV Foundation; the non-profit corporation that holds the KOCE broadcast license on behalf of the people of Orange County.
"We really hit the jackpot,” said KOCE-TV President Mel Rogers, “Everyone at KOCE is ecstatic about the addition of three people the caliber of Bob Magnuson, Paul Musco and Glenn Stearns. We are honored that these men have agreed to help lead and support Orange County's PBS station!"
Robert G. Magnuson has 26 years of experience in the media business. He has been a reporter, editor, publisher, CEO and consultant. He currently is president of Magnuson & Company, a consulting firm based in Laguna Beach, California. Previously, Magnuson was president and CEO of InfoWorld Media Group, and before that spent nearly 20 years at the Los Angeles Times, serving as publisher of the Times Orange County Edition. Earlier in his career, Magnuson was Hong Kong bureau chief of the Asian Wall Street Journal, business editor of the Oakland Tribune and an associate economics editor for Business Week magazine. He has taught at the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism. Magnuson graduated from UC Berkeley and holds master’s degrees in economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and in journalism from Columbia University. He and his wife, Los Angeles Times staff writer Shawn Hubler, have three daughters.
S. Paul Musco is the founder and chairman of the board of directors of Santa Ana-based Gemini Industries Inc. He is a prominent and recognized local philanthropist with a special passion for the arts, and serves as on the Board of Trustees for Chapman University, the Board of Directors of the Orange County Sheriff Advisory Council, the Board of Directors for Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, and is a member of the Los Angeles Opera Co. board of directors. He was also Vice President of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, by which he was named "Man of the Year" in 1998 for his charitable contributions.
Glenn Stearns, Chairman and Founder of Stearns Corporations, including a highly respected leading home mortgage company that under Glenn’s leadership has actually thrived during the current economic crisis. Glenn is known in his industry as the guy who, on KOCE’s Real Orange in 2005, predicted the collapse of the real estate market and called for more responsible behavior by his fellow lenders. He is on the Board of Directors for Canyon Acres Youth and Family Services, the Board of Visitors for Towson University, and Founder of Stearns Family Charitable Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth reach their full potential. Stearns was named Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003, and winner of TV’s “The Real Gilligan’s Island” in 2004.
