The Little Film That Could
Khori Faison Stars in First Time Director Reaves A. Washburn’s Independent Short Drama “My First Tooth." Set to screen at the upcoming Playhouse West Film Festival, this film proves to be a real contender
Chicago, IL, May 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Chicago based actress Khori Faison is headed to Hollywood to attend the screening of her first film at the 13th Annual Playhouse West Film Festival that runs from June 12th – 14th, 2009.
Faison co-stars along with Daisica L. Smith in writer, director and producer Reaves A. Washburn’s intense independent short drama, “My First Tooth.” The film, which was shot on the North Side of Chicago, follows single mother Melinda (Smith) and her young daughter Devon (Faison) as they make their way home from a trip to the dentist office. The horror that awaits them on their journey will lead Melinda to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect her child.

The acceptance of “My First Tooth” to the Playhouse West Film Festival came as a welcomed surprise for first time director Washburn, since the festival is known for their exclusive submission guidelines. Originally screening only the work of the Playhouse Theater’s ensemble and alumni members, such as Rod Steiger, Julie Harris, James Franco and co-founder Jeff Goldblum, the festival opened its doors to outside submissions in 2007. “My First Tooth” is one of only twenty short films accepted as an official festival selection for 2009.
“My First Tooth” recently premiered at the Memphis International Film Festival and is also slated to screen at the upcoming Muskegon Film Festival in Michigan.
