My Curio - Living the Dream

Doncaster East, Australia, June 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- My Curio is a new business created from a mind full of design ideas, and a will to put these ideas to work.

As a graphic artist who took time off to have her 3 children, Paula Marchionno wanted to be able to work from home, so she can be with her young children, but did not want to lose her creative ability, that can be lost if she didn't keep on designing ('use it or lose it').

Her kids became her inspiration. After all, the business idea was from a desire to create a personalised canvas for her kids to put up in their room.

Anne-Marie Hagigeorgiou, also a mum of 4 kids (just recently had twins) also had a dream of working from home and wanted to be able to create and sell a product that she loved and was proud of.

So Anne-Marie and Paula began the business of personalised canvas art - My Curio. Being an online ordering business meant that their hours are flexible, and are able to balance work and family life. They create personalised canvas art with photo, name and meaning. They also have a new range of Name Only canvases, with a range of designs to suit most bedroom decors.

"We do everything inhouse: design, print, stretch and finish. It gives us quality control of our product as well as control of delivery timeframes" said Anne-Marie.

"It's our dream to be able to work in a creative environment, as well as contributing to our family income, without having to sacrifice time with our families" said Paula. "Although it is not always easy. There are some late nights involved, but it's worth it."

Paula adds: "We would like to expand into other areas of kid's decor in the near future. I will keep designing as far as my imagination takes me."
