Albany Artist Vies for Prize at Outdoor Art Show
Albany, NY, August 11, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Indian artist, Bhavna Muthyala, will be showcasing her artwork at the Stockade Villager’s Outdoor Art Show in Schenectady, NY on Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 AM. Muthyala and other local artists will vie for over $1200 in prizes. The public will have the opportunity of purchasing their artwork. The artist will be showcasing several abstract works on canvas along with hand-made greeting cards.

Warmth With A Purpose is a 16 x 20 acrylic piece that speaks to the materialistic world to which we are all subject, yet fight desperately to escape. Muthyala uses black, gold and hues of maroon to create a rich tapestry that is both entrancing and unmistakable.

Sunset, an 18 x 24 acrylic piece, pays homage to the sun. Alternating between fierce and gentle orange and blue brush strokes, Muthyala depicts both the harshness and tranquility of this luminous source. “I love painting in acrylic.” Muthyala states, “It allows me greater room for experimentation and is a medium that I’m very comfortable using.”

Muthyala considers herself a multi-cultural artist who draws inspiration not only from world cultures, but from nature and emotions. She uses a variety of media including acrylic paint, ink and charcoal. Her love of Henna, an ancient Indian art form of painting beautiful designs on the hands, arms and feet of brides and brides-to-be, is quite evident in her hand-made greeting cards. "I'm always excited to see what people take away from my paintings," she beamed. Muthyala will also be showing her work at the Bad As Art Gallery on 316 Delaware Ave in Albany as well as at the Kismet Gallery in Troy. The artist may be reached at artbybhavna@hotmail.com.

Bhavna Muthyala was born in Bangalore, India and graduated from the Eastern Connecticut State University with a degree in Business Administration. She has exhibited her artwork at the Blue Moon Gallery, Fulton Street Gallery and the Green Living Festival. She has also contributed artwork for silent auctions hosted by the Capital District Human Association, the National Kidney Foundation and the Mental Health Association in New York State, Inc.
