NAMWOLF Lauds Formation of New Council to Promote Diversity in Legal Profession, Encourages Inclusion of Minority & Women-Owned Law Firms
NAMWOLF lauds the formation of the “Leadership Council on Legal Diversity” in New York; however, calls for the inclusion of minority and women-owned law firms.
Milwaukee, WI, June 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The National Law Journal reported on May 6, 2009 the formation of the “Leadership Council on Legal Diversity,” a new organization comprised of General Counsel and Managing Partners from leading law firms and corporations. The council will focus on putting together programs that work to encourage diversity within the legal practice.
The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (“NAMWOLF”) lauds the efforts being made by this new council to encourage diversity in the legal industry; however, notes that the subject of minority and women-owned firms should not be over looked. Currently the Council consists of partners from majority owned law firms and corporate law departments.
Yolanda Coly, Managing Director of NAMWOLF stated, “Our association is a proud advocate for many of the nation’s finest minority and women-owned law firms. These firms are qualified, experienced and some of the best experts in their fields - yet they’re often over-looked when it comes to finding a practice for legal outsourcing. We highly encourage the new Leadership Council on Legal Diversity to also focus on ways that America’s major companies can ensure that minority and women-owned law firms are provided full and fair opportunities to compete for legal business.”
About NAMWOLF: NAMWOLF is a nonprofit trade association comprised of minority and women-owned law firms and other interested parties throughout the United States. NAMWOLF promotes diversity in the legal professional by fostering the development of long lasting relationships between established minority and women-owned law firms and corporate and public entities.

NAMWOLF’s Fifth Annual Meeting and Law Firm Expo will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, Illinois on October 5 and 6, 2009.
