Quantum3D Announces New Capabilities in IData 3.0.4
Flight Deck Developers, Unmanned Vehicles Controllers Systems, Tactical Control Systems, In-flight Entertainment Systems, can now leverage new capabilities.
San Diego, CA, June 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) real-time visual computing solutions, today announced a new release of IData, its flagship Human Machine Interface (HMI) toolkit. IData version 3.0.4 adds a DO-178B certified widget library, ARINC 661 capabilities, new 3D user interface (UI) capabilities, and new digital mapping features including TeleAtlas street-level data and TerraMetrics TruEarth Global Satellite Imagery and TerraBlocks terrain rendering. Applications for unmanned vehicles, first responders, helicopters, in-flight entertainment, synthetic vision application, and others can now leverage these important new capabilities.
As part of a recent program win, Quantum3D is delivering the industry’s first DO-178B certified widget library for avionics applications. This extensive widget library includes such common elements as push buttons, popup menus, tab panels, numeric spinners, drop lists, radio groups, etc. Also included is a powerful tabular data display widget, a text editor widget and many others. When combined with IData’s native capabilities for resizable windows, dynamic render order, and UI hierarchy, these widgets form a powerful capability to implement cursor-controlled flight decks, operator tactical interfaces and many other applications.
IData’s widget library is an important element of its new ARINC 661 solution. IData users can now make their applications ARINC 661 compliant, and deliver both their user applications and their embedded Cockpit Display System (CDS) solution using IData COTS products. IData’s widget library and powerful user interaction capabilities form the backbone of the user interactivity required by ARINC 661. In addition IDataMap may now be used to provide an ARINC 661 compliant map widget. Finally, IData now offers an ARINC 661 communications protocol implementation and application programming interface (API) to facilitate the development of ARINC 661 user applications. Taken together, IData users can now benefit from ARINC 661’s open architecture while retaining the full power of IData for their HMI design.
All of IData’s user interaction capabilities are now supported by IData3D’s new 3D UI widget set. Using these widgets, any IData element may be presented in a full 3D context. Users may interact with the IData elements in the 3D virtual environment just as if they were on the 2D desktop. This enables IData to be used in the creation of virtual prototypes with true 3D layouts, virtual trainers, helmet-mounted displays, gaming applications, and 3D user interfaces for mobile devices.
Quantum3D has partnered with several industry leaders to deliver its latest IDataMap digital map capabilities. Quantum3D now offers worldwide TeleAtlas street level roadway and points of interest datasets for its IDataMap digital map add-on. This plugin may be used to present roadway and points-of-interest data within IDataMap.
In addition, Quantum3D has partnered with TerraMetrics to deliver a global compressed 3D earth rendering capability for IDataMap and IData3D. Using TerraMetrics TerraBlocks and IData3D, powerful digital map applications can use imagery and terrain data from a whole-earth view down to 1 meter resolution and below in a seamless form factor offering infinite zoom levels and space-to-face capability.
When combined with IData’s industry leading IDataMap and IData3D solutions, these new capabilities now offer the industry’s first 2D/3D digital mapping solution that combines multi-resolution imagery, elevation, and vector data in a scalable, customizable, and easily embedded solution.
IData 3.0.4 is immediately available starting at $5,000 USD. Demonstrations of IData’s new capabilities can be viewed at Quantum3D’s Avionics USA booth 619.
