Lone Star Symphonic Band Takes an Autumn Voyage

Houston, TX, August 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Lone Star Symphonic Band will be performing their annual fall concert on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 at 7:00 pm. The concert will be held at the Houston Community College – Town and Country Campus, in the Performing Arts Center’s Theater #1, located at 1060 West Sam Houston Tollway North (I-10 West and Beltway 8).

The concert’s title is “An Autumn Voyage,” and selections to be performed include marches, overtures, and movie themes. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 / adults and $5 / children 12 and under, or can be pre-purchased for $5 per ticket. The Lone Star Symphonic Band is an adult semi-professional wind ensemble dedicated to bringing performances of artistic merit to the Houston area community. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life and instills the value that music is a life-long event, continuing well beyond high school and college, and awards the Jon K. Fisher Memorial Scholarship to students majoring in Music. In the summer of 2005, the Band entered into a joint venture with Houston Community College – Town and Country Campus, offering the band as a course for credit to HCC students interested in performing with an ensemble. The Band is under the direction of Dr. Clancy Weeks.
