Banding Together, Performers Go Green

Gainesville, FL, June 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- June 4th, Melbourne-based modern-rock group 'Simone' will unveil their campaign to actively reduce the amount of plastics used in the recording industry. Teaming up with industry giant, CD Recycling Center, their mission is to recycle 2000 pounds of unused compact disc materials throughout the remainder of the year. 'It takes a pound of plastic to make thirty CD's', cites lead vocalist Simone, 'and 300 cubic feet of natural gas - it just doesn't make sense.'

Appearing Thursday June 4th at the popular Gainesville nightclub, Backstage Lounge, the group is asking concert-goers to bring one compact disc to be recycled with the name and email address of each donor attached. 'We aren't looking for lots of bulk,' continues Simone, 'we're really more interested in making each donor a part of the process - make it personal so everyone has a stake in this project.'
