MedPro Rx, Inc. Named Platinum Sponsor for Virginia Hemophilia Foundation Annual Meeting
Raleigh, NC, June 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Nancy McFarlane, president of MedPro Rx, Inc. (www.medprorx.com), a provider of specialty pharmacy services to clients with chronic illnesses, has announced that the pharmacy is a platinum sponsor for Virginia Hemophilia Foundation’s annual meeting on Saturday, June 20 at the Shady Grove YMCA, located at 11255 Nuckols Road in Glen Allen, Va. As a platinum sponsor MedPro Rx will present information about several of its advocacy programs developed in support of the hemophilia community.
This full-day event will include a wide variety of programs for adults, activities for children and a dinner cruise along the James River. Attendees will receive a Factor 8 product update, have the opportunity to network with other families living with bleeding disorders and learn about the importance of Grassroots Advocacy. For more information about the event, visit www.vahemophilia.org.
Approximately one in every 5,000 males nationwide is born with hemophilia, affecting all racial and socioeconomic groups equally. People with hemophilia experience bleeding following an injury and may have frequent spontaneous bleeding episodes, often into the joints and muscles. More traumatic injuries may result in serious problems and potential disability. The three most common types of hemophilia are Hemophilia A or Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia B or Factor IX Deficiency, and von Willebrand Disease. vWD is caused by a deficiency or defect of a clotting protein, and it affects approximately 1-2 percent of the United States population. Unlike hemophilia, vWD occurs equally among males and females and is more likely to cause nosebleeds and bleeding under the skin than into the joints.
“We are excited to sponsor the Virginia Hemophilia Foundation’s annual meeting,” McFarlane said. “It is a great opportunity for people to learn about new developments in the bleeding disorder community locally, nationally and internationally.”
