Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) Executive Director Jeffrey Caballero Honored with Community Health Champion Award
Arlington, VA, June 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- AAPCHO Executive Director Jeffrey Caballero received the first-ever Community Health Champion Award presented at APIAHF’s biennial conference this past Monday evening, sharing the stage and honor with fellow health leaders including Dr. Garth Graham, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Minority Health at the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Community Health Champion Award honors an Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander who has made significant contributions and has provided community leadership into moving forward the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Health Agenda.
“In leading AAPCHO as executive director, Jeff’s work over the many years has been instrumental in the fields of community-based health, health reform, Hepatitis B, and policy advocacy at the national level,” said APIAHF executive director and CEO, Dr. Ho Luong Tran. She added, “Through his leadership, he has assured that community-based and community-oriented care is front and center of the health agenda. The community health center movement is emboldened and strengthened by his commitment and passion.”
“I am deeply honored today and incredibly grateful for the tremendous trust and support that AAPCHO’s dedicated Board and this community has shown me throughout the years,” Mr. Caballero said. “Together, we have and will continue to raise our nation’s collective consciousness around the critical need for equitable, affordable, and culturally informed health care for everyone.”
APIAHF’s “Voices 2009: Amplifying the Call for Healthy Communities” conference brings together health advocates, providers, researchers, and representatives from community-based organizations from across the country and the Pacific to raise the visibility of a collective leadership in promoting policies to eliminate health disparities and achieve health equity for all.
