Sarasota, FL, June 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Recognizing that in any economic environment philanthropists want to feel confident that their donations are being managed in a proper and effective manner, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County (BGCSC) strive for business excellence and organizational efficiency.
These efforts have most recently been acknowledged in our community by the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce who awarded the BGCSC the 2009 Non-Profit of the Year Award. The Non-Profit of the Year Award is part of the Chamber's annual Frank G. Berlin Sr. Small Business Awards, a program of the Chamber’s Small Business Council.
“The Chamber instituted this award a few years ago in recognition of the outstanding work that many non-profit organizations do in our great community. This recognition for the Boys & Girls Club is symbolic, not only of the important role the organization plays in greater Sarasota, but of the solid and exemplary business practices utilized. Hats off to the leadership, both staff and volunteer!” exclaims Vicki Vega, Vice President of Small Business Development & Innovation at the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
On a national level, The Boys & Girls Clubs of America 's efficient use of financial resources has won national recognition. In a 2000 "Philanthropy 400" report, The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked B&GCA thirteenth among all nonprofit organizations, while placing B&GCA in the number one position among youth organizations for the seventh consecutive year. Forbes, Fortune, Money, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report have all ranked B&GCA among the top charitable organizations in America, based on cost-effective use of donor dollars.
