Beaufort, Maps.com Go Interactive
Maps.com has created new interactive maps for visitors to Beaufort-Port Royal, South Carolina.
Santa Barbara, CA, June 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Made specifically for the Beaufort-Port Royal Convention and Visitors Bureau, the unique online tool enables visitors to easily produce a customized area map, featuring places of interest that they choose.
The Beaufort and Port Royal area is home to a wide range of tourist activity hotspots from historically significant sites to golf courses and to excellent locations for fishing. “We wanted to give visitors an opportunity to select their favorites from the vast number of attractions we offer,” reveals Elizabeth O’Brien, Executive Director of Beaufort-Port Royal CVB.
“While some visitors want to see anything and everything, many have a passion that they travel here to follow. The map enables them to quickly and easily find relevant venues and attractions at-a-glance,” O’Brien continues. “Visitors can plan their own itinerary and print their own custom map. In addition, visitors stay longer and return when given an idea of all of the attractions they can see, which is very important to our local businesses.”
As well as being a great tool for tourists, the map has been designed to provide additional revenue for the non-profit organization. “The map offers great advertising opportunities for local hotels, restaurants, shops and businesses to get their message across, while the potential customer is still planning their trip.”
Advertisers can see the number of times their banner ad is viewed and gain a true sense of value for their money.
Users can find out more about featured attractions by clicking on the relevant push-pin icon. Pop-up windows appear where details such as driving directions, opening hours and phone numbers can be displayed. Relevant photographs, for example sites or store fronts may be included.
Maps.com also provided a series of large wall maps which are displayed in high traffic hospitality areas all over town. Each map shows the locations of over 70 points of interest in the Beaufort-Port Royal area and directs visitors to the CVB website for more details. Because the online versions can be easily updated with new visitor categories they offer excellent value and flexibility.
The interactive features were entirely based upon design requirements outlined by the Beaufort CVB. Uploads of new categories or revised information can be done quickly and easily in-house by the CVB’s own staff for convenience.
