Model Designer for ADO.NET Entity Framework and LINQ to SQL Exceeds Standard Capabilities
Devart has recently announced the release of Entity Developer 2.00, a designer for modeling and code generation for ADO.NET Entity Framework, the support of which is based on the two years' experience of working with this technology, and LINQ to SQL for SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database engines.
Budapest, Hungary, June 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- An entity model can be used to generate C# or Visual Basic code with flexible predefined code templates. With the designer, a model can be designed from scratch or reverse-engineered from an existing database, in which case the classes and the relations will be available in the model with just several clicks.
The new version extends the abilities of standard Visual Studio 2008 designer by such features as Drag & Drop support, that allows to move items from Database explorer to diagram and Project Explorer, and from Project Explorer to diagram to create conceptual layer entities from the storage ones, support for Entity Framework Storage Model Editing to simplify the process of database modification in accordance with changes in it, and, besides, three available types of inheritance, Entity Framework Complex Type support is added. Also, now, due to the background validation, that is executed after model changing, a user can see the actual state of the model immediately.
Other improvements in Entity Developer 2.00 include full support for stored procedures in LINQ to SQL, advanced naming rules for database objects, and Visual Studio integration.
They offer free Express Edition of Entity Developer, and it is also icluded in Professional Edition of their ADO.NET providers' product line (dotConnect for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL).
