Collinson Publishing Launches Informative New Web Site for Meeting Planners
Growing market of specialty meetings gets fresh, “consumer-oriented” resource to help them make their meetings a success.
Atlanta, GA, June 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Collinson Publishing has announced the launch of its newest Web site, ConnectYourMeetings.com, an informative, educational and networking resource for planners and suppliers of association and special interest group meetings, conferences and conventions. This market has expanded to include hundreds of hobbyists, collectors and other affinity groups, partly a result of online social networks.
The new site provides those charged with organizing annual conferences and other meetings for these organizations an online publication (soon to be joined by a print magazine) dedicated to helping them plan successful events. Whether they are planning a meeting for the first time or they have been doing it for years, they will find comprehensive, accessible information about planning fundamentals, strategies, tools, technology, destinations and sites. They also will learn how other planners have coped with challenges through case studies; enjoy success stories; and discover creative tips and trends. They will meet planners like them and some event “super stars.”
“Our mission is to serve the meeting planning and group travel industry through innovative education and powerful networking opportunities,” says Chris Collinson, publisher for Collinson Publishing’s Meetings Group. “Adding Connect to our already successful meetings group allows us to reach another previously under-served niche in the meeting planning market.”
The bi-monthly, high-quality print edition, Connect magazine, launches this July. The cover story features an interview with Ironman Events Director Steve Meckfessel, “Extreme Planner.” Other features include “Fraternal Meetings: Engaging Your Base with Service Projects, Great Programming and Enticing Destinations”; “Outdoor Education: Teambuilding Success Stories”; and “Contract Challenges: Canceling meetings, managing attrition and negotiating in tough times.” Departments include “Connections” — commentary, travel and destination news, planner profiles, strategy advice from pros, resources (from facility openings to useful Web sites to new products); “The Mix” — new wave, next wave, best in show, inside scoop, revving up the program, and more tips and trends; and “Destinations” — need-to-know facts, special places and value opportunities in select cities, states and regions around the country. The July issue includes a special resource: The Convention and Visitors Bureau Special Advertorial Section showcases destinations with facilities, attractions and value offers for specialty groups.
The 2009 Connect Marketplace will bring planners and suppliers together at the all-new Red Rock Resort, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, August 27-30. Marketplace features the unique “reverse” tradeshow first introduced by Collinson at the Rejuvenate Marketplace two years ago, where suppliers meet with planners in brief pre-set appointments at the planner’s booth, an approach that has proven to bring better results than networking on the tradeshow floor. The special guest speaker is Andrew Young, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and U.S. Congressman. Other keynote speakers include tech guru and founder of Way Cool Tools James Spellos, author and branding expert Bruce Turkel and hospitality lawyer Barbara Dunn. The conference also features a “boot camp” for planners, round-table peer discussions and educational seminars, ranging from preparing budgets to how attendees learn (continuing education credits are available).
