Mimi Rothschild Allows Parents to Contribute to Homeschooling Lessons
Suggestions from parents and educators will help enhance curriculum.
Philadelphia, PA, June 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Mimi Rothschild, co-founder of Learning By Grace, The MorningStar Academy (www.TheMorningStarAcademy.org) and Jubilee Academy (www.TheJubileeAcademy.org), has announced a feature that will enable parents to contribute to lesson plans for her online homeschooling academies. The interactive community functions will be available during the 2009-2010 school year and allow input and advice from homeschooling parents, further contributing to the quality and effectiveness of the curriculum.
“This new feature will empower parents to make suggestions and changes to our online lesson plans,” said Mimi Rothschild, speaking from her company’s headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“We feel the feedback from parents and educators will ultimately enhance the quality of education for our existing and future students,” Rothschild added.
The new functions will allow parents to become even more involved in their children’s education and learning. For every lesson, parents and teachers will have the ability to comment and add what they liked and disliked about the content, and also make suggestions for additional features that should be added.
Mimi Rothschild noted that a member of the Learning By Grace curriculum development team will review each contribution and if ultimately incorporated into the program, the parent will be given credit as a “contributor” to the lesson.
“Since we started almost nine years ago, homeschooling parents have always been very helpful in offering suggestions as it relates to our curriculum and lesson plans,” Rothschild said. “We created this tool to further encourage them to contribute ideas and offer their expertise. Ultimately schooling at home is about parental management of their children’s future and by incorporating the wisdom shared by parents, the homeschooling lesson plans and our biblically-based curriculum simply get better and better.”
According to the National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES), there are more than 1.5 million homeschooled children in the United States. With this number expected to dramatically rise in the coming years, Mimi Rothschild stressed the importance of maintaining the best available curriculum for all enrollees.
She concluded by saying the new suggestion tool is “one more way to do just that.”
