MBX Systems Achieves ISO 9001:2008 Certification

MBX Systems completes the certification process to meet the more demanding 2008 quality management standards.

Wauconda, IL, June 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- MBX Systems, a leading manufacturer of server appliances and storage solutions for OEMs, software developers and service providers, announced it has achieved certification to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Standards. This is the current, most demanding level of certification, emphasizing more thorough audit processes, management review, and process improvement. The MBX ISO audit was conducted in May 2009 by TUV Rheinland of North America.

ISO 9001 is the global standard for quality management practices. After several years’ performance at the 2000 certification level, MBX chose to certify its processes to the 2008 standard. To begin, the Company carried out a gap analysis to determine where attention needed to focus to comply with the new ISO standards.

TUV Rheinland audit team leader, Dave Bieterman notes, “MBX Systems fulfills all the requirements for ISO recertification to 2008 standards. The audit was completed without any non conformances. One observation highlight is the plant-wide production control software MBX has developed and effectively implemented. It provides real time feedback on status of work, as well as identifies any quality issues, from the point of order acceptance through shipping. It is the best I have ever seen.”

MBX production control software was developed in house, and implementation was completed in the first quarter of 2009. It has already affected the quality and flow of work processes throughout the MBX manufacturing facility, and it provides MBX customers with greater visibility to order status.

Spearheading the ISO recertification for MBX were Kevin French, manager of support services, and Carl Nothnagel, manufacturing manager. The pair originally led the Company’s ISO 9001:2000 effort more than three years ago. Part of their ongoing responsibilities include carrying out regular management reviews of the Company’s quality management standards, with specific outputs created to improve the processes. It involves both internal and customer-related processes and affects resources, personnel, infrastructure, and work environment.

Tom Crowley, MBX CEO notes, “Since ISO is a quality initiative, recertification is a team effort touching the responsibilities and accountability of every department in our organization. The efficiency, consistency and dedicated quality services that result from this process extends customers’ confidence in our capabilities as their manufacturing partner.”
