Aspen Photo Workshops Announces a Business & Marketing Seminar for Outdoor and Nature Photographers
The Business of Outdoor and Nature Photography seminar, produced by Aspen Photo Workshops of Bend, Oregon, will take place November 5th – 8th, 2009.
Bend, OR, June 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Aspen Photo Workshops (www.aspenphotoworkshops.com) of Bend, Oregon, will be conducting a seminar designed specifically for outdoor and nature photographers. This three day event will take place at Ruby’s Lodge in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah from November 5th – 8th and cover a wide range of subjects important to today’s nature photographers including what sells and what doesn’t, marketing and self promotion, pricing photography and licensing models, stock agencies and web strategies.
Speakers include three well established professionals with extensive resumes:
Charlie Borland has been a self employed photographer for close to 30 years. He has traveled the U.S. and parts of the world many times photographing the beauty of nature, city skylines, adventures, and historic sites. His people, outdoor, and nature photography has been published in hundreds of calendars, advertisements, brochures, and magazines including: National Geographic Adventure, Adventure West, Men's Health, TV Guide, Newsweek, Outside, Nationsbank, Farmers Insurance, AAA, Backpacker, Outdoor Photographer, Outdoor Explorer, Eco Traveler, American Photo, and many more. His success in outdoor and nature photography has led to assignments for Columbia Sportswear, Of the Earth Clothing, America West Airlines, Nike, Camelbak, Black Diamond, Early Winters Clothing, Northwest Airlines, Metolius Mountain Products, and many more.
His stock photography has been represented by more than 10 international stock agents and in 1990, with the success of his own photo marketing, he started Borland Stock Photo in Portland, OR. This boutique stock photo agency eventually represented the images of 50 photographers before being sold to Definitive/FPG (later Getty), a NY stock agent. Gary Crabbe Currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Gary began taking pictures while in college. After graduation, he went to work for famous adventure photographer Galen Rowell, where Gary managed the stock photo business for Galen's Mountain Light Photography for nine years. Known for his industry expertise and unwavering professionalism, Gary worked with many of the world's best-known advertising agencies, magazines, and publishers.
His client and publication credits currently includes the National Geographic Society, New York Times, Forbes Magazine, TIME, Victoria's Secret, The North Face, Sunset, L.L. Bean, Subaru, and The Nature Conservancy. His images are sold worldwide through a number of notable stock agencies. He has four published coffee-table format books to his credit, including The California Coast (2001) that won "Book-of-the-Year 2002" by the California Outdoor Travel Writers Association. Other titles include Our San Francisco (2003), Yosemite & The Eastern Sierra (2004) and Backroads of the California Wine Country, (2006). Marv Johnson is CEO of Fogstock.com, an online stock photo agency. He began his career as a commercial photographer in 1994, after he turned in his chalk as a high school English teacher and began showing his book to advertisers in New York. In 1997 he moved to Portland Oregon, and in 2000 he started FogStock. The initial mission of the agency was to bring contemporary and unique imagery to the Royalty Free market. Today the agency is greatly expanded and markets a large Royalty Free and a Rights Managed collection online and through over 10 global marketing partners.
