Hollister Creative Teaching Materials Win Three Gold Medals in National Educational Publishers Competition

Wynnewood, PA, June 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hollister Kids, the education division of Hollister Creative, has again won national honors for its teaching materials, earning three gold medals in the 2009 Distinguished Achievement Awards competition of the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). Eight Hollister Kids entries were among the finalists announced in April. Winners were announced this month at a banquet at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Earning top honors in their categories were:

• “Faces of the Future: Hispanics Who Will Influence the World,” a program created for Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services that included a student newspaper supplement, a teacher guide and a classroom poster (Best Anniversary or Commemorative Edition, Grades 9-12).

• “Leonardo da Vinci: Man, Inventor, Genius,” a full-color teaching package created for the Detroit Science Center (Best Sponsored Publication, Grades 6-8).

• “Big Two-Hearted River,” a literacy initiative featuring an Ernest Hemingway short story and interpretive lessons for the Michigan Reads program of the Michigan Humanities Council (Best Design, Whole Publication, Grades 9-12).

All three were created in partnership with the Michigan K.I.D.S. organization and Detroit Newspapers In Education.

In the last 12 years, Hollister materials have been honored 52 times as finalists or gold medal winners in the national AEP competition, which draws entries from the largest publishers of supplemental educational materials in the United States.

Each of this year’s gold medal winners was created by a different team of Hollister graphic designer and writers. The award-winning designers were Heidi Karl, Georgette Klotz and Aaron Sales. The winning writers were Martha Michaela Hutchman Brown, Cynthia Leger and Peter Landry. Landry was also the editor for all three projects.
