Up and Coming 13 Year Old Artist Announces Release of New Song

13 yr old artist, Meaghan Penning releases her latest single, Cold Black Heart.

Detroit, MI, June 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- 13 year old, Meaghan Penning, has released her latest single, Cold Black Heart on her blog and will soon be on I-tunes (within the next four weeks). The young up and comer composes her own songs and has recently written some of her own accompaniments, the piano of Cold Black Heart included. Her backgrounds are usually done by Laura Manlapit, an accomplished pianist and arranger, including Sorry to Offend, her previously released single.

The lyrics of Cold Black Heart aren't as soft as some previous ones stating “If looks could kill my eyes would tear out your heart” compared to “And if that's not clear sorry to offend”. When asked about the nature of the song, she says, “I was looking for something memorable that openly portrayed the anger of a broken-hearted teenager. Our emotions are very up and down and I try to capture that in my songs.” So does that mean this is written about a personal experience? “Yes and no,” she says, “It is not my personal experience, more of my emotions telling the story of the body language of a young teenage girl I saw in the park.”

Although Cold Black Heart is fueled with lots of anger and emotion, it keeps a mysterious quality making you wonder what the song is really about. According to Meaghan, there will be a lot explained in the music video that will be released in August. In the meanwhile, watch for a new single rumored to be released in July. “I'm very excited for this next song because it is based of a poem a close friend of mine wrote and is a lot softer sounding which will definitely be a big contrast compared to my past songs.”

So how does a 13 year old girl write and produce her own songs? You might ask her dad, Shawn Penning, the creator of Pennimation Studios. In order to record Meaghan's songs as well as his own audio books he has a small recording studio in their home. With the help of her dad and the support of her family she has plans for an album out this September of 2009. So what comes after that? “Well, I have this lifelong dream of being on Disney Channel, so I want to find an agent and work some more on my acting and dancing.” states the ambitious teen.
