Leesburg, VA, June 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Local Brewmasters Team Up to Open M.A. Hagerman Brewing Company.
Matt Hagerman and Favio Garcia, formerly brewers for Ashburn VA’s Old Dominion Brewing Company, are at it again. Hagerman and Garcia are planning a fourth quarter 2009 opening of a new Brewery in Ashburn. M.A Hagerman Brewing Company intends to build on the rich brewing tradition created by Old Dominion Brewing Company. “Our goal is to provide this supportive Northern Virginia and D.C. community with high quality craft beers that local beer lovers have come to expect from us,” said Favio Garcia, Old Dominion’s former Brewmaster. “We plan to produce high quality kegged and bottled beer, as well as Root Beer and other sodas.” Initially the Brewery will introduce products under its Rhino Chaser’s™ brand. The first releases will include an American Pilsner, an East Coast Pale Ale and various limited releases.
Local fans and beer aficionados are thrilled at the prospect of the local brewers returning to serve the area. “Since the closing of the Old Dominion Brewpub in Ashburn, our community has missed the availability of local craft beers and a friendly neighborhood place to socialize,” said local resident Glenn Moser.
“The local community has been very supportive of a microbrewery in the area,” said Hagerman, M.A. Hagerman Brewing Company’s founder and President. “It has always been my aspiration to create high quality beer through a local, independent brewery.” Hagerman and Garcia are in negotiations for a local space, and they are actively raising funding from local investors by selling company membership interests through a private placement offering. Market data on the industry is encouraging according to a 2009 Brewers Association survey that finds the demand for quality beer remains high despite the economy. According to the Brewers Association survey, “An overwhelming 91.4 percent of surveyed attendees said the economy has not affected the quality of beer they purchase. In addition, 98.8 percent of respondents cite "high quality" as their main priority when purchasing beer, as opposed to "low price" or "brand recognition.” M.A. Hagerman Brewing Company will join the growing craft-brewing industry that, according to the Brewers Association, increased nearly 6 percent by volume in 2008 and more than 10 percent by income. The fastest growing sector continues to be microbreweries, showing customer support for local breweries.
Fans will be happy to know that Matt and Favio will be at The Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest, held at Morven Park in Leesburg, VA, June 27-28, 2009. Look for them in the Hop and Wine Beverage (HWB) tent.
