Young Author Brings New Perspective to Life After Death in Thrilling New Trilogy Until We Meet Again
Ogden, UT, June 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Until We Meet Again is the debut novel of a young author whose complex and innovative novel belies her years. Stephanie Campbell’s fantasy novel, published by Outskirts Press, features a strong female protagonist, something that Campbell deliberately created for her female readers, as “they rarely get to see a strong girl character who is not in a romance novel.” Campbell’s heroine becomes immersed in the world of the dead and finds herself responsible for saving the afterlife from the Devil’s hands, bringing a unique and well-crafted perspective on death…and what comes afterward.
In Until We Meet Again, the heroine, Eden Schmidt, is an 18-year-old girl living under the rule of her parents—her father vindictive and cruel, her mother gorgeous and self-absorbed. After a particularly nasty fight between mother and daughter, Eden’s mother is killed in a freak car accident. A week later, Eden finds a wooden cross among her mother’s possessions, triggering what will become a final confrontation with her father. She tumbles down the stairs, breaking her neck in the fatal fall.
Eden finds herself in “Zemiothstai” (“purgatory” in Latin), where angels, demons, and beasts do battle, and where humans are tested to determine which souls can go up to heaven. It is there she gets pulled into the war, where darkness and goodness are constantly pulling at each other. Satan, using the power of a deadly gem called the Blood Stone, has forced the gates of heaven shut, and Eden is told that she must find a way to reopen the gates of heaven and save the thousands of souls who may be forever trapped in hell if she cannot accomplish this mission. It is a heavy burden for one so young.
She had gone from being an ordinary girl to some type of war hero. That wasn’t a good thing for a girl who had slept through history class for a month straight.
Campbell intimately involves the reader in Eden’s mission, expertly blending fantasy with religious undertones, and leaving us wanting more. As book one of a trilogy, Until We Meet Again ends with our young heroine preparing for a trip to Cantica, the fiercest demon prison in the land.
Peering into the reddened sun, Eden stared into the green areas of the Holy Land, dying and decaying like festering flesh peeling away from a wound. When—and not if—they got back, things were going to be different. The world as they knew it was going be in the light of true death. Not the death of the body, but the death of the soul.
