AsiaXPAT Charity Ball Raises Over HKD1,000,000
The AsiaXPAT charity ball benefiting the Christina Noble Children's Foundation and honoring the AsiaXPAT of the Year was a huge success raising over HKD1,000,000.
Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., June 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hong Kong's business elite were on hand to enjoy traditional performances by children from the CNCF Blue Skies Ger village in Mongolia as well as modern dance performances by members of Hong Kong's "Steps Ahead". MC Nuri Vittachi was at his witty best entertaining the well-heeled crowd of 300 who were in attendance.
Bidding for the auction prizes was ferocious as auctioneer Mr. Christian Carpuso skillfully played off competing offers to raise considerable funds for CNCF from the eight fabulous prize packages on the block. The top prize of a tailor-made tour of Mongolia with Panoramic Journeys generated the most active bidding with a whopping winning bid of HKD350,000.
The highlight of the evening however, was the announcement of the AsiaXPAT of the Year Award winner, Jacqui Shurr, founder of humanitarian aid organization the The Good Rock Foundation. The Good Rock Foundation is supports over 250 disabled orphans in China through foster care, medical support, life skills training and more. Says Ms. Shurr, "It was a wonderful opportunity to be nominated for the inaugural AsiaXPAT of the Year Award. I was delighted not only to win but to be a part of such an act of expansive graciousness by this a high profile organization to reach those who have dedicated their lives to a cause."
The management of AsiaXPAT and the CNCF board were extremely pleased by the response to the event with AsiaXPAT Founder Paul Luciw commenting, "the generosity of the community was overwhelming particularly considering the current economic climate. This was one of the most successful CNCF Balls ever and the funds raised vastly exceeded expectations." AsiaXPAT will continue to hold this annual award which is open to nominees who are resident in Hong Kong.
