Mayor of Detroit and NBA Hall of Famer Dave Bing to Speak at Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame Inaugural Induction Ceremony on July 18th 2009
Monroe, LA, June 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that the honorable David Bing, newly elected mayor of Detroit Michigan and NBA Hall of Famer, has accepted their invitation to be the master of ceremonies for the inaugural induction ceremony for the Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame.
This year, Youth United for Prosperity is presenting The Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame inaugural induction ceremony which will be held at the Monroe Civic Center in Monroe Louisiana on July 18th, 2009. The Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame spearheaded by James “Shack” Harris (former NFL Pro Bowl MVP) and Doug Williams (former Super Bowl MVP) is committed to ensuring that the greatest sports legends to ever come out of Grambling University, and their accomplishments are cemented into historical posterity. To that end, the Grambling Legends Sports Hall of Fame was established. Dave Bing, Major of Detroit Michigan and NBA Hall of Famer will be the Master of Ceremonies for the induction ceremony. There will be a press conference for the event on Thursday July 17th at 3pm at the Monroe Civic Center.
There will be 25 legends that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They are; Willis Reed (Basketball), Tommie Agee (Baseball), Ernie Ladd (Football/Wrestling), Henry Dyer (Football), Ralph Garr (Baseball), Charlie Hardnett (Basketball), Robert Hopkins (Basketball), Lane Howell (Football), Stone Johnson (Football/Track), Willie Joseph (Football), Legolian “Boots” Moore (Football), Bo Murray (Football), Helen Richards-Smith (Basketball), Richard Stebbins (Track), Hershell West (Basketball), Willie Young (Football), Tank Younger (Football), Ralph W.E. Jones (College President and Coach), Eddie G. Robinson (Coach), Collie Nicholson (Sports Information Officer), Fred C. Hobdy (Coach), Willie Brown (Football), Buck Buchanan (Football), Willie Davis (Football) and Charlie Joiner (Football).
Dr. Joseph Profit, President of the NFL Alumni ATL Chapter says "We are extremely excited to have the Honorable Mayor Bing Participate with us said Dr. Profit.
