Govt. to Act on Cyprus Property Deeds - Boosting Market
Hartlepool, United Kingdom, June 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- There have been rumours recently that the new measures to help people get their title deeds would not help those who have already bought property in Cyprus.
The government has made a statement to OPP in response:
"The Interior Minister [Neoclis Sylikiotis] has not stated that the measures that are being studied will not concern those who have already bought houses or other buildings”.
"Measures will be introduced which will allow the competent authorities to intervene independently in cases where the original owner-seller is indifferent or refuses to implement his obligations regarding the issuing of separate title deeds."
However, the government did admit that in any cases where deeds have been received that the existing deeds cannot be changed.
Nonetheless this is excellent news for the thousands of people currently buying a property in Cyprus, according to overseas property portal Property Abroad.com which has noticed rising numbers of people looking to buy Cyprus property in recent weeks.
"This [rise in the number of people searching for Cyprus property] is no doubt because of the recent advice on how new buyers can ensure they get their title deeds relatively quickly, and of course the strengthening Pound. This news that the government is now stepping in will further boost the demand to buy Cyprus property," said director of the portal Les Calvert.
Property Abroad.com is currently advertising Cyprus property for sale priced from £25k.
