Pepperdine Professor and Cancer Survivor Will Present "Success Over Stress" for People with Cancer and Their Families
"Success over Stress" is a free workshop for people with cancer and their families, sponsored by Community Memorial Hospital and The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura. It will take place Thursday, July 16, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Cancer Resource Center at CMH, 184 N. Brent St., Ventura, CA 93003.
Ventura, CA, June 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura and the Cancer Resource Center at Community Memorial Hospital will host a free presentation for people affected by cancer entitled: Success over Stress with Ed Rockey, PhD. This seminar offers an eclectic approach to managing stress through discussion, hands-on-work and take-home activities. This free event takes place on Thursday, July 16, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Cancer Resource Center, 184 N. Brent St., Ventura, located across the street from Community Memorial Hospital. Ed Rockey is a two-time cancer survivor and professor of Applied Behavioral Science at Pepperdine University in Westlake Village. He has conducted “Success over Stress” seminars for many organizations. This workshop will help participants learn how to take control of the stress that is an inevitable part of life and cancer.
Founded in 1982, The Wellness Community is an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing free support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones at over 100 locations worldwide including 24 U.S.-based and 2 international centers with 73 satellite and off-site programs. The Cancer Resource Center at Community Memorial Hospital offers a variety of services designed to meet the needs of individuals faced with a diagnosis of cancer, as well as providing programs for family members, friends, and the community-at-large. These services are offered free of charge in a comfortable, non-hospital setting. Community Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, 240-bed, community-owned regional hospital and health center governed by an unpaid board of trustees. It is fully licensed by the State of California Department of Health Services and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. The Community Memorial Hospital Cancer Program is accredited with commendation by the American College of Surgeons.
