The Outdoor Craftsman to Include Television Segment on Green Ammunition
Interstitial Stories to include Green Ammunition for Public Television and Educational Segments
Boca Raton, FL, June 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hunters and shooters (those in shooting sports) are going green. In dealing with creating a sustainable environment hunters and shooters are slowly turning to Green Ammunition. In 2008, according to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, Americans spent an estimated $1.08 billion on ammunition. Though the Bureau does not track ammunition by type, there is a growing trend among shooting sports to consider whether Green Ammunition is feasible and truly a helpful alternative to lead based or copper based ammunition. Education on this issue is both needed and helpful, and The Outdoor Craftsman will focus some segments on the trend and how it affects the industry. Such education would also touch upon the potential underlying political issues concerning those that want to take firearms away from the shooting sports. The National Rifle Association (NRA) said efforts to ban lead ammunition are veiled attempts to take guns away from hunters. And it should also be noted that alternative sources for ammunition, like copper, are much more expensive than lead.
“We know that sustainable issues are very important in our political climate, and since “Inconvenient Truth” won an Oscar, issues about global sustainability have come to the forefront of everyone’s thinking. That includes the realm of the shooting sports. That is why educational programming of this caliber is so important,” said the senior producer of the program. “As new options appear in the shooting sports surrounding everything from new firearms, to gear, to ammunition, The Outdoor Craftsman will be there to highlight choices that will give hunters and shooters the ability to make good decisions on what they buy and use in the sport. That is what makes the issues surrounding Green Ammunition compelling,” said the executive producer.
The Green Ammo storyline will be scheduled into the interstitial programming lineup for the series within the producer’s timeline. The producer will be looking for unique stories, a shoot location for filming and a desire to bring forth education by the organizations considered for the series.
