Empowering Independent Filmmakers with the RED Camera
New set of prime lenses made for use with the RED camera now makes the high cost of quality film images more affordable for the Independent Filmmaker.
Burbank, CA, June 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ProHD Rentals has joined forces with uniQoptics to provide filmmakers a RED camera package with a high quality, affordable set of prime lenses. The new lens set is designed specifically for the RED camera and can handle the demands of 4K chip clarity.
Based in Burbank, ProHD Rentals has been providing the Indy culture, as well as mainstream production, the digital equipment tools necessary to produce high quality, affordable video content. President Bob Bekian explains, “Filmmaking has traditionally been an expensive undertaking, but with the continued development of digital technology we are now seeing more craftsmen able to enter the market. UniQ Optics’ lenses are a big step in that direction.”
This latest development has upped the ante by giving the smaller projects equal footing in the visuals department. “Lenses are key to a crisp, rich image,” Bekian continues. “And the glass in UniQ’s lenses are high quality at a cost most projects can handle.”
UniQoptics’ team, including academy award winning technician Kenji Suematsu and optical design expert Hyperion Development designed the Signature Series Prime set, which is among the first ever true digital cinema lenses. They cover up to a 32mm image circle, covering up to 4K and 5K sensors. Its high definition glass and digital design resolve down to a 5 micron pixel. Assembled and marked individually in the USA to ensure perfection with each lens.
The lens package was most recently demonstrated at an industry event hosted by Loyal Studios in Santa Monica which also featured ProHD Rentals RED cameras and Final Cut workflow for the RED system. The two have now joined forces to promote the latest technology for the digital production arena. “We’re really excited about these lenses,” Bekian added. “I think they will be very popular.”
