Hollywood and Wine Industry Networking Mixer Succeeds with RED Theme
An industry networking mixer at Loyal Studios showcases ProHD Rentals' RED camera and Villa Creek Cellars red wine with big turnout.
Santa Monica, CA, June 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The latest in networking mixers paired wine tasting with digital technology in an event entitled “RED on RED.” The social event was hosted at Loyal Studios’ green screen stage in Santa Monica. Other industry participants included ProHD Rentals, RED cam, Final Cut Pro and uniQoptics. Representing the wine industry was one of Robert Parker’s favorite Paso Robles wineries Villa Creek Cellars.
The event series is aptly named “Hollywood & Wine,” because it is meant to explore California’s two greatest products: entertainment and wine. The networking mixer is set in a unique hands-on environment where industry professionals have an opportunity to interact, sample wine and learn more about the latest digital video equipment. “I think it’s a great combination,” said Cris Cherry, owner of Villa Creek Cellars. “It’s an opportunity to meet new contacts, learn about new equipment and drink wine. How bad can that be?”
Wickham Irwin, who created the event, was on hand to welcome the guests and inform them about the participants in the mixer. “I’ve always loved wine and I have been looking for a way to combine it with the industry where I work,” explained Irwin. “It seemed like a logical fit to assemble filmmakers and winemakers in a social setting where they could share their passions and discuss their art forms.”
Attendees spanned the full spectrum of industry talents, including animators, directors, cinematographers, executive producers, financiers and company executives. The atmosphere was electric as people congregated on the green screen stage to see the latest RED camera lenses designed by uniQoptics, while others lingered at the wine tasting table sampling Villa Creek Cellars’ Rhône style blends. ProHD Rentals’ president Bob Bekian was also on hand to showcase his companies selection of RED camera packages and Final Cut workflow stations. “This is a great idea,” said Bob. “I think we should have more of these events to give filmmakers an opportunity to experiment with the latest equipment and network with other industry professionals.”
Plans are in the works for additional networking events intended to create a casual, social environment in an informative, professional setting. “Based on the success of this first event I imagine this series will continue to grow,” said Irwin. Bekian hopes to develop instructional demonstrations and seminars to the events to be used as a tool for filmmakers. “We are all about empowering the filmmaker to craft the best product imaginable and this kind of event gives them an opportunity to learn and experiment, as well as to meet other creative talent.”
