First Asian Art Gallery in SF Bay Area

Oakland, CA, June 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Gallery Chinoise (361 12th St., Oakland) opened its doors to the public on June 14th, 2009. The grand opening reception was a success, drawing in a mixed crowd of artists, art critics, and art fans. The gallery is the first in the San Francisco Bay Area to be dedicated solely to contemporary Asian art.

The gallery plans to hold monthly openings on the first Friday of every month, coinciding with the popular Oakland Art Murmur. "Art and Sake" will be an unofficial stop several blocks south of the art walk. While the gallery is located outside the borders of the art walk, it hopes to attract some of its attendees. The first such opening will be on Friday, July 3rd from 7 to 10pm. Admission is free and free sake will be served.

Other upcoming events include a bi-weekly movie night and charity galas. The movie night will feature a short film by a local Asian filmmaker followed by a mainstream full length movie. Each night will explore a specific theme relevant to the Asian American experience.
