Why Canned Uzi? Records announces the debut release of Toronto band Strawman - Revelation of the Method, available world-wide July 1st and now at www.strawmanmusic.com.
Toronto, Ontario, Canada, July 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a world that is dominated by reality television, celebrity adoration and the pervasive spread of impersonal means of communication, Toronto alt-rock trio Strawman is proud to be releasing their debut CD ‘Revelation of the Method’ – an album they hope will be a timely catalyst in the awakening of the social consciousness.
Available now exclusively at www.strawmanmusic.com and July 1st at iTunes, Napster, Amazon and other online retailers, the five song CD puts on display Strawman’s driving sound and perceptive lyric style that has been uniquely dubbed DE-PROG(RAMMING) rock. “It’s a made up word, sure, but it tells people that our music moves, it’s got a bit of a prog element to it, and it offers a window to the world as we see it.” says Duff, drummer for the band.
“We’ve been experimenting with sounds and styles based on a wide array of influences (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tool, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, to name a few) and we feel Revelation of the Method is not just music that gets your feet moving, but poetry that challenges listeners to look outside the box we live in that is the 21st century."
Recorded at Toronto’s Co-Op Musical Machine Studios in 2008 and completed in 2009, the release of Revelation of the Method will be rigorously promoted by Strawman this summer, beginning with their CD release party at the historic Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Thursday, July 2nd, 2009.
Renowned as much for their defiance of mainstream attitudes and ideals as they are for their dynamic sound, it remains to be seen if Strawman's ambitious hopes for their first album will be realized.
Including singles Are You Sleeping? and Another Puppet, Revelation of the Method is an album that Duff believes the world is ready for. "We have a pretty straightforward view on life - ‘be aware, be compassionate, and don’t take yourself too seriously.’ We think society is ready for a change to more honest ideals, and because every revolution needs a soundtrack, we want Revelation of the Method to be it!"
