Residents in Lennar’s Colonial Heritage Community Take Action
Some residents of Colonial Heritage have volunteered to join the James City County Fire Department’s, Citizens Emergency Response Team to prepare for a disaster or emergency situation in their communities.
Williamsburg, VA, July 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Several residents in Lennar’s active adult community, Colonial Heritage have volunteered to join the James City County Fire Department’s, Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The CERT program is designed to train and educate volunteers on how to prepare for a disaster or emergency situation in their communities. Through the program, volunteers in Colonial Heritage will learn basic response skills including fire safety, light search and rescue team organization and disaster medical operations. With continuous training, CERT members are able to help provide assistance to neighbors in need until professional emergency responders arrive.
Responsibilities of CERT members include emergency preparedness, supporting first responders in emergencies, collecting disaster information to support first responder efforts and providing help following a major emergency.
“CERT is an integral part of any community and we are proud that we have representatives taking action from Colonial Heritage; they are to be commended for their selfless efforts,” said Brenda Sharp, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lennar’s Virginia Division.
