Baltimore, MD, July 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Standards for Accountability Give Donors Confidence
After a comprehensive review, Better Business Bureau serving Greater Maryland awarded the Casey Cares Foundation with its Accredited Charity Seal. The application for BBB’s Accredited Charity Seal can only be completed by a local charity that has been assessed by BBB to meet or exceed each of its 20 Standards for Charity Accountability. The Casey Cares Foundation provides uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families throughout the Maryland area.
“We are thankful there are watchdog agencies like the Wise Giving Alliance who monitor charities in this day and age,” explained Casey Baynes, Founder and Executive Director of the Casey Cares Foundation. “Although it was a lengthy process, it informs potential donors of credible charities, like Casey Cares.”
A BBB Accredited Charity Seal is now displayed on the Casey Cares Foundation’s web site, solicitation materials and other communications to provide the public with a clear, concise and easily recognizable symbol of trust.
“During these difficult economic times, there are a lot of people in our community who are especially impacted by the work that local charities provide,” said Angie Barnett, BBB | Greater Maryland president and CEO. “But, donors are more concerned than ever that contributions are put to good use. Charities like, Casey Cares, that display the BBB Accredited Charity Seal have attested to sound standards and strengthen public trust in giving.”
BBB’s Accredited Charity Seal Helps Donors:
Find reliability. The charity seal will allow potential donors to quickly recognize charities that meet BBB’s standards.
Look beyond “the numbers.” While many other charity watchdogs confine their reports and conclusions solely to the charity’s finances, BBB Charity Review Service requests various support documents to evaluate the participating charity’s governance, fundraising practices, solicitations and informational material, as well as, how it spends its money.
